Coastal and coastal Redwoods

Yesterday I promised better photos. I think these are better, but maybe not, you decide

We are staying in Brookings Oregon. It is about 30 miles north of Crescent City Califonia. The redwoods national and state parks are not contiguous and stretch down the coast. today we drove about 30 miles south of Crescent city along coastal highway 101, or as they say here 'the 101'.

Hard for the camera to capture the size and to put into perspective the size of these trees. I tried to decide which photo best describes standing in a grove of these behemoths.

That about sums it up. Sequoias versus coastal redwoods, who is bigger? (you know size does matter!) Redwoods get taller but Sequoias have more girth and are therefore considered bigger.

they call it the corkscrew tree due to it's twisted shape

Sorry, I used blogger to insert the video instead of youtube. Do not like the result. Have to hit play arrow in the middle twice and then full screen icon in bottom right for best result. Back to youtube for future videos.

We are here till Tuesday but have a full schedule of things to see and do. It is June 15th and we are wearing jackets! Not many June days have we done that in the past. And speaking of June 15th, Happy birthday to our youngest who turns 37 today. (damn he cannot be that old as we are still children ourselves!)

Y'all make it a good day,

gathering them thar rosebud things...
