St. Augustine tour day 2

Before we play tourist, a short editorial comment.

Part of the fun of vacations for me is the planning. Where to go, what to see, when to be there. Mary's only concern is when should she be ready and what to pack. She never knows what I have planned, trusting fool isn't she? In spite of all my best efforts I am always surprised by something I was totally unaware of. I have planned vacations only to learn we ended up in the middle of a Southern Baptist convention. On the other end of the spectrum we went to Key West during Gay pride week, that was different. But it falls way short of the "white party" in Palm Springs one year. No, it was not a meeting of the klan. Google is your friend if curious.

At any rate, what I failed to note as an event this weekend was "Biketoberfest". See HERE for details. Do not get me wrong here. I have owned motorcycles, still maintain a license exemption to operate one, like riding one. However these things are overrun with Harley owners. You know which ones they are because the bikes are out of tune. Must be because they have to constantly rev them up at stop lights so they must not idle. They are the ones with no mufflers either. No, not the quiet smooth power of a Honda or a BMW. Just freaking loud noise. They ruined Eureka Springs in Arkansas, must really love the echo in that valley. My point is, enjoy the ride but cut out the noise pollution. We are some miles from I-95 and the noise of bikes is all you hear. Stepping down off my soap box now...

Well it is Sunday and I was preaching above, might as well visit a church or two.

Not inside a church but close enough.

My bad on photography. The cross is well behind the statue marking the presumed spot of landing. In trying to capture both I came up with a bizarre photo.

This next segment is dedicated to Mark and Sharon. While Dr. and Mrs. Hoelscher have been trying to clean up the basement of odds and ends, am quite sure they have far to go. A dirty little secret we know about them is that they are addicted to second hand/thrift/antique stores. They have/had a basement FULL of stuff. Friends you are about to meet your match.

 Read about him HERE

 An amazing collection

Just a picture of a pretty girl...

And some words we should remember and the younger generations should learn...
