Reno

Well that was a bust. Mary has wanted to come here for a long time. I had been before on a business trip. We dedicated today to visit their Riverwalk area, much touted as the place to go. With visions of San Antonio's river walk in our head we headed downtown.

There went that dream! A lot of homeless/street people around. On every street corner. Everywhere. While there where restaurants around, it was not an area we wanted to spend much time. Did find the First Methodist Church.

 A few views

We decided to leave that area and visit a casino out near where we are staying. Happens to be where I stayed during the business conference all those years ago. Had a good meal and left them a little money in the slots.

The following is solely my observations/opinions. We have been on the road 40 days. In that time we have met some nice people and even have standing offers for free dinners and invites to come visit them. We have also met some assholes. Campsite etiquette is a thing of the past. People walk thru your site with no regard for your privacy or simple respect. Why must people put their phones on speakerphone then carry on extended an conservation. Has happened in restaurants and  campgrounds. I am talking a 100 feet away and I can plainly hear both sides of the conversation. Good manners say take your hat off when inside, you probably already know that gets trampled everyday. Watched a man come in wearing a Stetson that he took off and placed on rack while dinning. I went over and thanked him for doing so. Yesterday while in St. Mary's church it was all I could do to not verbally confront a man for wearing his hat in the sanctuary. He was old enough to know better but if not a sign plainly asked everyone to remove their hats. I am getting old and cantankerous but I am going to start calling these people out over their transgressions

Step down from my soap box...for now.

Tomorrow brings a new state as we move on to Oregon.

A little different from our winter home

Next post from Collier Memorial State Park, Chiloquin Oregon
