Canyon day #3

Earlier I wrote that Mary and I had visited the Grand Canyon before. Technically that was a correct statement. However we have been here three days and are really just beginning to explore and appreciate this park. Coming out here, going to visitor center then the rim, snap a couple of photos then gone. That is what we did before, due to time constraints. Really should not count as a visit.

Today we hiked about a mile down the Bright Angel trail. Not bad for a lady who nearly one year to the date was having 360 spinal fusion. Wish we could make it to the bottom, but every step down means a step coming back up. Being used to close to sea level atmosphere, at 6700 ft elevation the air is thin.

 A few photos to share:

You know we are suckers for historic cemeteries and could not pass this one up. It is both historical and still active. Pretty strict requirements in order to be buried there.

really like this young man's epitaph

On to Zion National Park in Utah. Will go thru Vermillion cliffs along the way. Next update from Sand Hollow State Park.

and we did carpe diem
