Travel Map
Natchitoches, (nat-cha-tis). Surprisingly nice little town with long heritage. We are camped at Grand Ecor RV park, probably one of the nicest we have ever stayed in.

Tyler
We came to Tyler for the spring flowers and dogwoods. The dogwood trees were in full bloom, unfortunately the azaleas were not. The severe cold and snow took a toll on them. However all was not lost as we enjoyed some quality time with Mike and Cheryl. As a added bonus I enjoyed catching some nice bass in the little pond. Fun time.

Nice Surprise
A part of Schulenburg RV park is a small pond for fishing. I had no expectations for this little pond. Indeed my first day yielded no results at all. Tuesday was a different story altogether. Caught 3 fish and missed several others. Caught a catfish, bass and sunfish. Sorry did not have my camera phone handy when I landed the catfish.
A nice way to spend the day.

The painted Churches
Around the Schulenburg area are many historical churches, including 4 painted ones. These Catholic Churches have been around for over a century. They all have elaborately painted interiors, some quite stunning. An enjoyable tour easily done without a guide.
On a positive note we now have a firm date and time for Mary to receive her second vaccine shot.
A lot of history in these Churches.

And so it begins
At last we have begun our spring trip. Tonight we are in Schulenberg at a small commercial park. Nice people and a decent little park. Enjoyed a nice meal at Oakridge smokehouse. Tomorrow we tour several painted churches. Still waiting on notification about Mary's second vaccine shot. More tomorrow on the churches.

Vaccine distribution
Corona virus vaccine has been slow to arrive and difficult to get in our area. Accordingly Mary and I have registered in many different locations. She was notified on 24th she could get her first shot on the 25th in Kerrville. I was notified the morning of 26th I could get mine that day, in Uvalde. 100 miles away.
We both had registered in both locations on the same day.
Begs to ask the question of what criteria is used to allot vaccination times.
Glad to have gotten them but really wonder about distribution...
