Normally they are wrong

Weather forecasters make a nice living being wrong most of the time. Wish they were wrong now. Being just north of Texarkana, we are in the bulls eye. Don't care to drive in heavy rain, saw four wrecks yesterday, so will stay put.

 Hope they open the spillway...

Lake Millwood SP

We have swam our way into Arkansas safely. No heavy rain thankfully along the way. Almost have the place to ourselves, suspect cancellations as other sites reserved. A few issues have developed that may cause some changes in our plans, hopefully only minor and temporary.

MILLWOOD STATE PARK

rosebuds are pretty soggy

WTH?

Who planned this trip? Better question is guess where we are heading? Cooling our heels here at state park hoping it would move out. Weather dot com had it moving past in an hour or so. Beginning to think they were wrong.

daingerfield state park

Did not like my previous video editor so found a open source one on the net So far, so good but my learning curve is vertical. A tremendous amount to learn.

Eighty two years ago young men made it possible for us to enjoy this park. They were paid $30 per month, $25 of which they were required to send home to their families. The CCC's did a lot of lasting good during the dark days of the depression.

Weatherman says we are in for rain the next ten days. We move tomorrow to Millwood in Arkansas for three days. Luckily I brought a lot of books to read or can play/learn the video editor

Hope you enjoy this short tour of Daingerfield State Park

day 7 bonus

If you know me extremely well, you know my favorite song, of any genre, is Amazing Grace. While playing around on YouTube i found this French version that I love. Well the next video started playing before I left the page. Have played it repeatedly since .There is even a version they dance to the song. Get your Cajun on HERE

Day 7

We have arrived safely at Daingerfield State Park, our home for the next three nights. Main reason is we have never been here before and we once had a goal of visiting every state park in Texas. I suppose we still have that goal but have begun to drift far a field.

Pretty obvious we have left the valley.

Last night was spent in a forest service recreation area. Nice little place between Crockett and Lufkin.

Back to our fishing trip for a minute or two. Doug had the music playing loud and this song came on. I thought it was pretty funny and found it on a YouTube video and decided to share. No disrepect to my dog owner friends.

Gathering rosebuds

Time to move along

We have enjoyed our stay here in the Aransas Pass/Rockport/Fulton area. Today we toured the Fulton Mansion, a state park historical site. Worth your time and $6 if in the area. Mike and Cheryl went out fishing again and limited out on trout plus bagged some reds. Doug Rives is the guide in case you would like to try your luck. Nice guy and can put you on the fish. We have eaten way too much the last few days and HAVE to get back to our diets starting now.

Tomorrow we lift our jacks and head north. A one night stand in Ratcliff then on to Daingerfield State park. Forecast calls for rain while there so may be more book reading than fishing.

Till later in the week from Daingerfield, go gather yourself some rosebuds...
