Preparations. ..

Next journey is October 4th for 8 days. Sewer drain hose replaced, outside shower assembly replaced. Discovered it was cracked while sanatizing fresh water supply. Except for some odds and ends coach is ready for extended trip. Of course there is the unavoidable last minute food packing. Mentally more than ready to go.

Tales of the unexpected

Well the inaugral trip was full of surprises. 100 degree day turned into severe storms and flash flood warnings. Inspite of the weather we had a good visit. All systems opperated as expected and our belief that we had  selected the right coach for us. There was one minor problem. During a steady morning rain it came time to empty the holding tanks. No big deal as hose was already connected, simply a matter of opening valve and drain black then grey water tanks. When I opened the valve to drain the black water said hose split open and began spraying waste water every where.  Oh hell! Nothing to be done but buy a new drain hose and drain later. Made for a crazy end to a crazy weekend.

First Impressions

Out on our first excursion in the RV. Came over to visit dear friends who live here. Parks like this cater to rv'ers, many who live in them full time. They have a lot of amenities for the guest. Having said that we intend to utilize state and national parks on our journeys. Many people utilize Wal-Mart parking lots. We may as a last resort.
When we had our pop up camper we seemed to attract storms. True to form, first time out in the class A we have gone from clear and 100 plus temps, to severe thunderstorm warning. Slow learners are we!

Plan Ahead!

Driving your car and you need gas, no problem you just stop at next station. Now instead of family sedan/SUV imagine you are drving a 30ft motorhome. Can I get to pump? Can I get away from pump once I get there? Mind you 30ft is realitively short for motorhome. Think about that next time you pull up to the pump, to say nothing about the 80 gallon fill up!

Where did it go?

We have camped for 40 plus years. From tent, to pop up camper, to hybrid camper and then travel trailer. Life brings about changes and we went a couple of years NOT camping. Now that we have the class A and begin to stock and outfit it, we wonder where our "stuff" went. By stuff I mean all those extra kitchen items one will need, the extra towels, out door living items. We had all the required "stuff" but now that we need it, it is nowhere to be found. Sort  of like reinventing the wheel in a way. Just 12 days till our inaugural voyage and we are woefully unprepared. Of course we will survive but would feel better if we could locate our "stuff". Have you seen our "stuff"?
